Adult Therapy in Austin, TX
-
Different phases of adulthood bring unique challenges. Becoming a parent opens up a whole new world to a person and can make you reflect on how you were parented and how you now want to parent. In addition to this transition, some adults are carrying experiences — whether a recent, acute event or something rooted in childhood — that are impacting them in the here and now.
My work with adults centers on trauma, the challenges of parenting, and anxiety (including OCD). I draw on a range of modalities, including Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). For parenting related work, I bring a relational approach alongside strategies adapted from the same parent-focused frameworks I use in parent consultation — helping you understand not just what to do differently, but why, so it feels sustainable rather than like a script to follow.
My most extensive clinical training and experience is with children, teens, and young adults, and the adults I work with often benefit from that same developmental, family-systems lens — especially when the work involves parenting or making sense of your own upbringing.
Areas I work with adults on include:
Trauma
Anxiety and OCD
The transition to parenthood and parenting challenges
Reflecting on and reworking patterns from your own upbringing
I offer both in-person sessions at my Austin, TX office and virtual sessions for adults across Texas.
If you're wondering whether therapy might be a good fit for you, I'd love to talk it through with you.
